INPUT (In-Network Programmability for Next-Generation Personal Cloud Service Support)
Objective: Future cloud internet services with innovative value-added features
COSMOTE is participating in the European research project INPUT (http://www.input-project.eu/), which aims to design a novel network infrastructure to replace physical smart devices (e.g., set-top-boxes, DVD players/recorders, MP3 players, IoT devices) with their virtual images, providing them to users "as a Service." Specific objectives of the INPUT project are: (a) providing the user with high service quality anytime, anywhere, as if one were at home LAN, (b) supporting high content security through virtual personal networks, (c) achieving low energy footprint via the storage of the user's information as close as possible to the user's location and (d) devising new business model(s) based on new added value cloud based services.
As part of the INPUT project, COSMOTE is helping identify the technical requirements, define the system specifications and the overall system architecture, develop demo applications and the overall system evaluation. Additionally, the company is helping with dissemination activities and exploitation of project’s results as well as investigating the potential business model(s).
The INPUT project is co-funded by the EU through the Horizon 2020 Program. It involves 9 partners from 5 European countries (Italy, Spain, Ireland, Germany and Greece) and is expected to run for 36 months (01/2015-12/2017).
