Yes. Through the Superfast Broadband action, of the Ministry of Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Media, programs are subsidized with the FTTH technological infrastructure. The subsidy concerns the connection cost with €48 one-off and the monthly connection fee with €13/month for 24 months. This is an upgrade of the existing access speed of the subscriber to the next commercially available speed, free of charge and automatically, without the subscriber, in the majority of cases, having to take any action.
For instance:
Subscribers who already have a 200Mbps speed plan will not be able to upgrade as commercially available speeds currently reach up to 200Mbps.
The free upgrade of broadband Internet speeds enjoyed by COSMOTE fixed subscribers has already begun and is expected to be gradually completed by the end of 2022. This interval is necessary as depending on the network technology, different actions are required.
In the majority of cases the upgrade is done automatically and remotely, but in other cases it will require significant technical implementation.
COSMOTE fixed subscribers to whom it is technically feasible to upgrade will be upgraded to the next commercially available Internet speed, maintaining the same price and without any change in the terms of their plan, including the duration of their commitment.
The upgrade will take place automatically and remotely, where possible, while in some cases technical implementation and communication with subscribers will be required.
Upon completion of the upgrade, subscribers will be informed via My COSMOTE App, their account and/or by sms.
In order to ensure the best Internet access experience with the upgraded speed, in some cases COSMOTE will make available a new technology COSMOTE router free of charge.
Yes, as long as you are not in an area with fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) infrastructure or infrastructure provision by the end of 2022 and if the network infrastructure in your area allows for faster speed than your existing plan, you will automatically upgrade to the next speed. Subscribers of plans that were commercially available after 01/03/2022 and have built-in 500' or unlimited talk time to mobile, do not participate in the free speed upgrade.
