The real speed of your internet connection is the speed in which your router is getting connected to the COSMOTE Fiber network via plug (synchronization speed). The synchronization speed depends on how far away you live from the OTE Urban Hub or the Telecommunications cabinet in your neighbourhood, as well as on the quality of cabling, both of the network and the building where you live. These factors are assessed and an appropriate plan is proposed to you when you place your order online at cosmote.gr, call at 13888 or visit one of the stores of OTE Group.
This speed is the only one that we can assure as the speed that you will be eventually enjoying when using your smartphone, tablet, gaming console or laptop via WiFi is affected by many factors that it is impossible to know such as: the device through which you are getting connected and its capacities, the construction and setup of the space, the existing home appliances like microwaves, TV sets, fridges etc. These factors at times affect more and at times less the end speed on your device. In any case, most probably you will be having a speed which is lower than the synchronization speed of your router.
If you are a COSMOTE customer, you can:
Enter the router's page via a device connected to your network and selecting Status information If you are a new customer, you can:It applies to all Double Play plans with speeds higher than 30 Mbps.
Yes, it applies.
As long as you have an activated COSMOTE Double Play Fiberspeed plan, you can check your COSMOTE router and see the exact speed of its synchronization in 2 alternative ways:
Yes, it is different and usually it is equal to or lower than the synchronization speed of your router (real speed).
Every measuring tool of the speed of an internet connection (e.g. OOKLA) measures the speed through which your device (your tablet, for instance) has access to the internet via wireless connection, while the synchronization speed of your router (real speed) derives from a measurement realized via cable connection of the computer to your router (find out more on Question 4).
If this speed is lower than that of Real Speed Assurance, then contact a technician at 13888 to check how it can be improved.
You can contact COSMOTE@YourService here, the service offering you high end specialized support so that one specialized technician can visit you and check the particularities of your home in order to find the best possible solution to improve your speed.
Alternatively, you can call 13888 (free of charge from COSMOTE landline) and ask about your option to get the same plan with the next lower speed. For instance, if you have the COSMOTE Double Play 50 L plan, you can get the COSMOTE Double Play 30 L plan already available in the market.
If your router is not compatible with the speed of the plan you have selected, the point of sale will make sure you get a new compatible COSMOTE router.
A compatible router is required in order to get the maximum possible speed of the plan you have selected. Therefore, if you don't connect the compatible router, the synchronization speed will be lower. The point of sale or customer service will consult you accordingly for compatible routers.
